I hear the local cigars are good in Cyprus and the tobacco growing conditions are similar to that of Cuba. Can anyone recommend some good local cigars to smoke while I'm there on holiday? :-)

Youd actually think so..
But i went oover there in the summer and NOTHING is cheaper when it comes to dutied items and large stores. However i did find some small areas that had friendly greek men in the back of the small shops. He had some boxes of montes and what not. But some of them were obviously fake. So beware!
At least thats what i found.........Originally posted by ValeTudoGuyMarc's a Fat Molly

As far as I'm aware tobacco grown in Greece and Cyprus is Oriental tobacco, primarily Latakia for pipe blends. Turkish cigars are available in Cyprus and you can taste something purfumey (unpleasant) in them. Basically, if you want to buy cigars buy Cuban. There are several LCdH on Cyprus and my advice would be NOT to shop anywhere else but. The bigger towns in Greece have shops which stock good cigars, but the smaller resorts and islands ... Nada ... so, best to get them when you can.If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

point is, don't settle for something similar to cuban...... because it most certainly wont be anything like what you'd expect!! do yourself a favour and buy only cuban.....
