  • Best place apart from Cuba

    Hello guys, hows it going?

Me and my partner are looking into holidays and honeymoons (as we are getting married this year) but its got me thinking as I like to bring a haul back. Just out of curiosity what is the best place for cuban cigars?

Any info would be great guys!

Gibraltar is good as the cigars are supplied by the UK importer and although not marked as EMS they come from the same source. so you can sit in the sun and smoke great cigars.

Andorra and Geneva have good prices and selection.

What prices are the cubans over there?
Looks like me and my partner are still looking into cuba (we fell in love with that place) but you are limited what you can bring back.
P.s we like our beach holidays more than anything...

Excellent beaches in Cuba, we did 1 week Havana/Vinales and then 1 week on the beach, winner.

If you want to bring back more than 50 each your stick with within the EU for best prices probably Spain.

Cheers for that, looks like it mite be spain then. Cuba was the best holiday in my life for me. I would always recommend it to anyone.

Thanks for your help guys. Thought it would be best sticking to Europe to bring back more. Is it 200. Sticks per person still while cuba 50...

Go ahead. Rub it in. Andorra, Spain, Gibralter, Cuba.

I went to Cuba and do you know what my cigar allowance was?

                Zero. None. Nada. Nichts. Bupkis.

I live in the fucking USA, the only country in the entire fucking UNIVERSE where Cuban cigars are illegal!

And I have no knowledge of those 50 cigars which mystically appeared in my baggage when I unpacked after my return.

That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

To keep customs grubby mits off them your best to stay bellow 200 though the actual legal answer is their isn't a limit for personal use but they can't believe anyone would need more. Check out Barcelona as it's got a couple of good shops.

Why not honeymoon in Cuba and have a weekend in Spain for your 1st anniversary. I know what Gemma would say if I chose Spain over Cuba so I could bring more stogies back.

Yea personally I would go somewhere fantastic for your hunnymoon and book a slezyjet flight for a tenner to Spain.

I would suggest you get a map, and choose a holiday location on the Spanish coast somewhere between Mabella and Gibralta.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

If it's early summer go to Cadaques on the Costa Brava...nice romantic womenny things for her to do & be kept happy,,easy reach of Barcelona & a full days trip would see you in Andorra & Back.
Flying or driving isn't too bad..driving is best...but take your pictures of your stash, your cigar logs & lists, if you do get stopped for having 40 + boxes, legally you have no problem, if you can convince the nice man in blue that they are all for you...

Thats true! Last night we both said it would be our dream to go back to Cuba. So we will look into Cuba for our honeymoon. We met some nice friends there and they live in Amsterdam. They have a invite to our wedding and have already book the hotel. I feel honored!
Now I was thinking of a long weekend over there? Before or after the wedding?
Infact, thats perfect! Il surprise her with a nice weekend away to see friends.
BUT, does anyone know what prices and selections are like in the Airport or main streets (if there are any that sell cigars).

Thanks for all your input people! Il have to start saving some money to oneside for this.

My friend who has been afew times said food and drink isnt cheap over there. So hoping the stick arnt going to be overkill with prices...

Imho, you can't beat smokin' Havana's in Havana!!..Ok, so you can only bring 50 back, but doesn't stop you smoking the other 50 while you're there . Why not look at somewhere like Jibacoa; that way you're only a 45 minute journey from the Partagas Factory/Hotel Nacional etc. and you both get what you're looking for?

Given the state of the Euro, you'll save a little but not a massive amount (depending on what you buy). I wasn't too impressed by prices in Palma, but found good deals on Party Shorts and the RG Perla's (about ?2 each).

Link below to the Goverment Cigar Price list for Spain which should give a rough idea for your weekend away, but a search on Spain in the Forums will throw up similar info.
