I've had a scout around the net for cigar shops in Rome. There are a few, but Fincato does seem to be the best one. Alas, no time to try more. One is quite close to where I'll be. They have a walk in humidor as well as a double humidifed window. Not sure what their stock is like though, they say they specialize in Toscani. See link.

Actually Puff it was a bit sore, after I showed them my hand, I balled it into a fist until I was through, I was a bit worried I might have drawn blood!

I'm just glad you demonstrated a punch on your palm & not a cutter on your thumb! Ouch!
Didn't make it to Fingari's. Too many things to do and not enough time.
Bought a whole load of Toscani though. Interesting smoke. You'd think it's be terrible going by the shape and smell of the pre light, but it's surprisingly nice. I can't do the Hints of this or that...". I either have a cigar I like or one I don't like and all I get is taste of cigar, might vary and be different between makes, etc, but it's still just cigar. And it's either nice or not... Toscani are nice. It's the same with wine for me, I can tell different tastes, but all I get is wine.
Didn't need it in the end, but I did take a punch and had no problem with it through airport security.
The stash (I would have got Presidente and Moro, if I could find them but the only place I saw that had them was the Airport Duty Free and being EEC I couldn't buy them):
Jesus Wept!
Harley..I know Rome can get a bit rough of a night time ..but to have those forced on you...you have my deepest sympathy old chap...
Take a big fella with you next time!
I know butane lighters are allowed on flights. But i'm pretty sure they only mean the yellow flamed ones.
Technically, the torches are also butane lighters, but i doubt most people to know too much about em.
Will they still be allowed too? Or are they a tad too intense then??
Well - I flew out to Madeira last Monday, and hadn't even considered this! The wonderful staff at Manchester took a deep interest in the Punch as they deemed it "Bullet Shape
Sorry to hijack the thread but did you stop by LCdH in Funchal? Any good deals in Madeira?
Btw...never been stopped for lighters (including jets) but three times for a banana
Last September when i flew to Cyprus i took half a dozen sticks in my portable, along with a lighter (my cheapest one) and a cutter (again, my cheapest one). Since both utilities are technically iffy, categorically a grey area (you know how clear customs rules are) i took my cheapest of each so i had nothing to worry about if they were confiscated. Went through x-rays there and back, not even a dickie.
I would say the punch will be okay, as long as you put it with your sticks and moderately (but not overly) obscured.
