Anyone know of any bars in Liverpool with a good smoking area and a humidor on the bar? The Turmeaus in Liverpool is closed today.

You know, Daniel, we could ask the same question of almost every major city in the UK. My local city is Newcastle where it is virtually impossible to smoke other than under a parasol alfresco. In the depths of winter, that isn't the best environment for enjoyng a good cigar without getting a wind 'rush', inevitably spoiling the experience. I rather suspect that things will get worse rather than better - a sad indictment on our 'progressive' society. As for a humidor at the bar - that's becoming pie in the sky !

Agree with you on all counts. One of many reasons I would like to move back to London.

Didn't get time to go find a place anyway (was a birthday meal for my brother), but would have been nice to know of somewhere in Liverpool as I visit every other month or so.

Know a nice bar with a good smoking area (and a humidor) in Chester.

Can you not smoke in the cigar shop on Grainger Street?

Ps... If you're ever looking for somewhere to have a cigar in Kettering drop me a line. My lounge is very comfortable.

A cigar shop on Grainger Street, Newcastle upon Tyne ? Do you have a specific address as I can't think where such a haven of peace and tranquility might be. I travel Grainger Street when we shop in town once a fortnight but can't bring the establishment to mind. I must admit that I would still prefer a hotel with a non-alfresco smoking terrace.

Down at the bottom of Watergate Street (racecourse end) - http://www.barlounge.co.uk/

Prices were not too bad for cigars and drinks (two rum and cokes were ?9).

Grainger Street is the main thoroughfare in Newcastle running from the Central Railway Station to Earl Grey's monument. Used to be a high class banking/business and shopping street but, like so many throughout the country, it is reduced to KFC, McDonalds and Poundstretcher type emporiums.

A bit late now but for future reference Genting Casino in Queens Square has a good enclosed and covered smoking area upstairs, membership is free and you can either do it online or on your first visit.
?I asked the professors who teach the meaning of life to tell me what is happiness. And I went to famous executives who boss the work of thousands of men. They all shook their heads and gave me a smile as though I was trying to fool with them. And then one Sunday afternoon I wandered out along the Desplaines river and I saw a crowd of Hungarians under the trees with their women and children and a keg of beer and an accordion.?
