There are three retail stores that the Fuente family is associated with: Tampa Sweethearts in Ybor City; Holt's in Philadelphia and Casa Fuente located in
Affordable NCs? Vallejuelo Robusto Gordos, Pete Johnson's el suelo come to mind.
Have a great time in Vegas, we love the place so much that our wedding was in a helicopter at night over the strip
I will be very interested to hear of your experiences, out plan is to go back for our 10th anniversary and cigars will be much higher on the agenda now.
Oh wow! Maybe I shall come back with a wife! Also, just went in a shop and they had punch, r and j montecristo etc... so confused. Are they all fakes or American versions?
Some of them are ok but there are much better NCs out there. Its legal because in America the copyrights are held by the non Cubans after being sold by the fleeing families after Castro. Look for Olivia V for good value or any of the padron anniversary.
Cheers, yeah was going to go for a Fuente or Olivia, not as cheap as I'd hoped though
A Fuente Perfecto. damn good NC.
Olivia V Robusto or Double Toro. great NC.
Those two left a GREAT impression on me. At the duty free they were 9 and 8 buckeroos respectively. Other ones were good too, but not worth mentioning. If you say they were not as cheap as you'd hope for, then get a few. but make sure those two are on your list
Casa Fuente is an absolute rip off. The prices are laughable. I've stayed in Caesars Palace and have literally walked in there once and never again lol
Ah didn't realise that was legal, should I steer clear from them?
Some are jolly nice - if I recall correctly, the few RyJ examples I tried in Colorado a few years back were very enjoyable.
Interestingly, a lot of the trade-marks are owned by the same company (at least partially - in so much as Imperial Tobacco, through Altadis, own half of Habanos SA). A mini-discussion from quite a while ago on just that topic: http://www.ukcigarforums.com/showthr...72-Interesting
Shouldn't Habanos own a part of Altadis? As that's the case with Hunters & Frankau. And I don't see the cuban government selling a part of their most profitable business.
Well, in 2000, Altadis bought a 50% stake in Habanos SA. Regardless of the logic, it's what happened. It is also notable that since this happened, Habanos have seen a drastic shift in the way that they work - streamlining the number of cigars they make as regular production, and bringing in things such as ELs and REs.
Cheers, yeah was going to go for a Fuente or Olivia, not as cheap as I'd hoped though

Cigars are very expensive in Vegas. Sorry, I just started reading this thread or I would've told you to go online and buy some cigars and have them delivered to the hotel. The Belagio is certainly my favorite hotel in Vegas and in the best location.
I love going across the street to Paris and sit at their casino bar (in the back of the casino) watch the people and smoke a cigar. The Fuente Lounge in the Forum shops is right next to your hotel and a nice place to smoke as well although when we were there in February you could only smoke inside the store and not on their "patio".
If you want a great cigar try the Diamond Crown. They have them at the Fuente store and probably all the stores (there's a nice one at the Venitian). Like others have said, almost all the brands you see there with the Cuban name are not fakes at all but actually quality cigars manufactured by the same families who used to own the Cuban brand before they were nationalized. The difference is only in where the tobacco is grown. There are some bad ones though. I would stay away from Cohiba's entirely.
Try Rocky Patels, La Gloria Cubana's, Fuente, etc. Have a great time and post some pics when you get back. I love Vegas and don't even gamble. Go see Cirque du Solei Love by the Beatles next door at the Mirage, great. Also, if you get homesick for a British size sandwich be sure to go to Carnegies Deli in the Mirage. Nice small sandwiches but delicious. Here's my corned beef sandwich. And don't forget Pinks Famous Hot Dogs across the street from you at Planet Hollywood. IMAG1477.jpg
