I was working in Madrid last night and I'm not flying home today till 4pm so I thought I'd hunt down a cigar shop. I hopped on the metro across the city to Bilbao and found cava-estanco www.cavaestanco.com . A great little shop with, as you'd expect, good prices. There is a classy little tobacconist at the front of the shop but around the corner is the proper cigar shop. I bought four regional editions. Robaina, Ramon Allones, Bolivar and Por Laranaga. Smoking one of the robainas now. It's great. Waiting for the airport for purchasing bog standard boxes. Photos to follow.

I didn't have much time for a good root around. There wasn't an aged section as such but it might be a shop where you could find an interesting box code if you had the time. I think it's certainly worth a visit if you're in Madrid but possibly not worth flying to Madrid for if you're on the hunt for the holy grail.

I smoked an aged Robaina at Casa a week or so ago and really enjoyed it. They are another 'sleeper' brand. Not strongly regarded by many cigar smokers and often left at the back of the humidor to age.
I don't think they are destined to become classics, they don't have the underlying strength to develop, but as a 6 - 10 year old smoke they are smooth, tasty and perfect for my taste.Nic

Just got home and looked it up. I think that is indeed what it is. I bought 2 of the robainas and 1 of the other three and the total bill was 53 euros. I wasn't really paying attention to prices apart from the bolivar being around 14euros and the others around the 10euro area I'd be guessing. Sorry that's probably not enough detail. Lol

Just looking in on this thread as I was out in Madrid last week. Didn't have the time to look around town but the selection in the T1 walk in Humi was impressive, even if the prices were only reasonable. Most of the stock looked to have a bit of age on it, the 2 boxes of Sir Winnies I saw were '02's and even more standard stuff such as Epi 2's were from 2009.
Hopefully next time ill be able to have a bit more of a look at stuff...

Slightly off topic but I've had one of the Maestros sitting in the humi for a couple of years now. Picked it up from Diego Jose when I was out there last. It was the only one he had left, so he gifted me the box. Nice gesture. When the weather warms up, I think I'll set fire to it."Go you good things...geddem int'ya"
