  • Edinburgh and Speyside area, Scotland

I'm planning a trip to Edinburgh and Speyside in October. Can anybody recommend a cigar lounge or cigar store in those areas? Anybody familiar with the "The Cigar Box" in Edinburgh? Can you smoke in the lounges still or has the Anti-Smoking laws in the UK nixt that?

I would appreciate any insight. Cheers! Kurt

I was in Edinburgh a little less than two years ago and stopped in both the Cigar Box and another small store on the other side of the street but further down. Both said you cannot smoke in cigar stores there.

    We stayed at this hotel:

Was actually a very nice hotel and they had a great pub/restaurant downstairs that had a large heated terrace that we could smoke cigars at. You might want to check with them to make sure you still can. The location of the hotel was perfect. Short bus or taxi ride to the castle. We even walked one day as it's not that far. Large park right across the street too.

Unlike England, we can't smoke in the stores here in Scotland. Pain in the backside considering the Scottish weather is usually worse than our sunnier English neighbours.

There's a few good beer-gardens: The Pear Tree, Beehive and Hotel du Vin for starters
Plus, there's a lot of good outside eateries on The Royal Mile and The Grassmarket...

Have fun and try to see the royal yacht Britannia...very nice!
