Good evening Gentlemen and a few Ladies, may I present to you the one, the only Oliva V Torpedo, i've always loved the Lancero of this brand, but recently I sprung for a box of the torps, so what are they like?
First off it's pretty, a lovely puro maduro wrapper that is perfect in construction with it's Nicaraguan (Habano Sun Grown) wrapper and a Nicaraguan filler and binder , it has a slight oiliness that you would expect and feels plump with no hard points.
Upon cutting the draw was absolutely perfect a few naked draws as always tells of the spicy bitter sweet combination of this particular cigar, it lights like a dream and right away you get Oliva's signature spiciness, there are the usual cocoa like flavours and a subtle sweetness, the burn is great and the ash is a pale grey with few breaks that just sits for ages.
Through the second part of the burn the oliva continues to show the same flavours each intensifying at one point even giving a tingling on the tongue reminiscent of chilli though very mild, the smoke gains power throughout with large plumes the never fail to satisfy.
The final part was still superb, all the notes still there, the spicy note, the pepperyness, the taste of the cocoa bitterness and a few other earthy notes all coming in including and earthiness, I smoked this down to the end and loved every moment of it.
Aaaaaaaand done....

Looks: 9/10 This is a beautifully created cigar, each one is literally perfect.
Build: 9/10 This is a greatly built cigar and never fails to tick all the boxes, i've never had a blocked or ripped one, they are faultless.
Taste: 9/10 Quite simply a joy from the first unlit inake to the end, a true triumph for the NC cigar

Cigar Afficionado Rating: 94 And they're right for a change.
I know a lot of people say Non Cubansare inferior but these really are an amazing cigar, they are near perfect every time., the build, the banding and the burn are all second to none in the NC world.
Next time you have a hurf and i'm around I will bring a selection (the Lancero is a treat too).
