Good evening to you all, well not all of you as some of you, in fact most of you are probably doing something far more interesting with your life....so, what do so we have this evening? Well its the Star Wars Clone Trooper Battle pack, oh wait, you're interested in the cigar arent you?
The Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 Robusto Corto I knew absolutely nothing about this cigar when I bought them but i'm a sucker for a nice looking cigar and a pretty box, kind of like some strange cigar addicted magpie.
Onto the cigar, it's a delightful little chap this, with a Cuban seed Criollo Honduran wrapper (which I have read takes a very long time to mature) with a mix of Mexican, Honduran and Costa Rican fillers, I must say that the build is absolutely faultless, once clipped it has a wonderful draw and you can taste that this has a kind of citrus / woody taste to it, not at all unpleasant. My only fault here was that the cap looked a little "stuck on" the others in the box look fine though.
Upon lighting, the same tastes continues to develop a citrus / fruitiness with grassy undertones (I think) the ash was a little uneven being quite pale but with the occasional darker stripe (I asume from the blending several different leaves), however the cigar tasted great, was not full bodied as advertied, but had enough body to keep my interest.
Through the 2nd 3rd the Citrus remained as did the woody influence but there was also a sweetness building, which I can only describe as....well caramel would be the nearest but I may be way out here, however none of the flavours were harsh or overbearing, I'm really enjoying this.
In the final 3rd the same flavours are there, but I started to get a note of (not sure about this but it's the closest thing I can think of) Celery coming through, but again it seemed to compliment the cigar beautifully.....but then...
It was abducted by the Empire who deem tobacco as illegal and bad for you!!:!:
After a quick fight in which I was the victor I continued to enjoy my cigar All the flavours were still present, a slight citrus, the caramel sweetess and the celery all of which continued to make me smile with each draw, as a finale a few earthy tones came through finishing this cigar off beautifully.
In the end though the agents of the Empire took my leftovers, but you know what i'm not disapointed, maybe they will clone this too, it would be no bad thing!
So in summary, wow, I really enjoyed this, it was the first of my batch so maybe a fluke but my goodness, it was a good one, time for ratings:
Ratings:
Drink: Own blend of Rum.
Looks: 8.5/10 A very nicely made cigar, cap a little off but it's a one of oddity in the box. (This one was only a 7)
Build: 8/10 on the whole very nice, the burn line did waver but mainly as I was prattinga round with some software.
Taste: 8.5/10 Clean and precise flavours, as always it's a personal thing but it had lots of different yet distinctive flavours.
Price: ?2.39 per stick
Cigar Insider rating: 92
Note: All joking aside, I really liked this and I think i've found my new day to day smoke, it's well priced, mellow yet fullbodied enough to keep your interest, in short......It's great!!!
