Ahhh what to do on a Saturday night when i'm supposed to be painting, I really truly suck at painting but it's an old house so I can use that as an excuse
So i've fired up a "Prodigy" a special from the forced labour camps of Rocky Patel, this beautiful Robusto has a smooth Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and a Habano binder, with fillers from both the Nicaragua and Honduras fields all owned by the Rocky group ( not to be confused with Stalone movies).
So, whats this stick like, I must note that this has been in the humidor for the last 2 years, pre light draws like an angel and has some interesting notes from what I can tell, upon lighting it has a grassy taste maybe a bit of spice to go along with it (not the spice from Dune), the burn on this is a little uneven to begin with, then settled out, it's also a little mild, something belied by it's dark wrapper though it is sold as a full bodied stick. This is a very woody and grassy smoke, there's nothing wrong with it but as I go into the middle of the cigar I was hoping for a little more.......well a little more, it's a nice smoke but it's just good I would say it's like a Saab
The final 3rd of the cigar went really peppery all of a sudden which was a nice suprise but it still ontinued to be a woody, grassy sort of chap.
Ratings:
Drink: Appleton Estate Rum.
Looks: 8/10 It's a beautifully made stick like you'd expect from Rocky Patel.
Build: 7/10 on the whole very nice, though the burn went wobbly a few times and the ash wouldn't sit.
Taste: 5/10 Bah, I had huge expectations from about this cigar but it didn't deliver.
Price: ?2.72 per stick
Cigar Aficionado rating: There isn't one
Note: The last one I had was a little better but this is a lackluster smoke.
Note 2: Now I have to get on with painting
