Hey all,
Okay here goes another review of dreadfulness but it's one I just have to make as it's for one of the most overlooked and under appreciated cigars around (and I happened to have one last night)
The El Rey del Mundo is a fantastic robusto from the workcamps of Padron < hear the cheers in the streets> it originates from Honduras is of a medium flavour, has an Equadorian Oscuro wrapper (and a tissue one too), the cigar lit up well and stays nice and straight all the way through, the ash is almost white and just refused to budge (until it fell in my lap over half way down), it has that bitter sweet flavour that I guess people would describe as chocolatey (what do I know) and a kind of nuttiness. becoming slightly more spicy in the second half. All I can say is I love these guys they are a fantastic smoke from start to finish, lots of smoke, a great taste that is neither harsh, nor mild yet somehow mellow (like putting on your favorite old sweatshirt)
Ratings:
Drink: Morgans spiced rum
Looks: 8/10 I do like tissue paper, makes it feel like my birthday, it's a very matt finish.
Build: 7.5/10 on the whole very nice, had a non drawer hence 7.5, rest are easily 8-8.5
Taste: 8.5/10
Price: ?2.30 per stick
Cigar Aficionado rating: 91 (for the suprema, but it's just the longer one)
Note: The first one of these I ever had was so tight I had to stick kebab sticks though it to make it draw, that didn't go so well so I threw it away, since then I have gone through a box of these and all the others have been top notch.
