I only just noticed this thread, days after my 2000 cabinet arrived. I entirely agree about this cigar being great. The No.2 and Sir Winston are other great cigars and I think H Upmann doesn't get the credit is should.

"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock!"

Calling All JP # 2 Fans!

Well, amigos....I sampled the H Upmann Connoisseur no.2 while on break from the Mexican Rat Race in the fabulous Cayman Islands.

And if it did not have a band on it, I would have sworn I was smoking a Juan Lopez no. 2

Unfortunately, my favorite torcedore, Jesus Lara Perez, had gone back to Cuba because is workers' permit had expired. So no freshly hand-rolled puros for the Coros this year. Damn shame!

IMO, they were 100% spot on........

this was the 'robusto' that had evaded me for so long!!! never, ever saw it available in belfast as a single!!! after seeing said review was convinced to take a chance on a cabinet of 25!!! i'm soooo glad i took the chance, it exceeded my expectations, and then some.....

opening the cabinet, i was hit by the amazing smell of cappuccino!!! plain and simple!!! already being a fan of the magnum 46, 48, 50 and sir winston, i was expecting great things, and boy does it deliver....

as my name suggests, i love my robustos!!!! this cigar is creamy beyond belief!!! mild to medium bodied, not my usual score, i usually smoke either patagas d4's or bolivar royal coronas!!! this made a welcome break!!! a lovely cocoa, milk chocolate & coffee profile with Madeira, cashew and banana (??) type flavours!!! simply put, a beautiful cigar!! though it may be mild to medium bodied, it's flavours are complex, more so than what i'm used to!!! rob ayala has summed it up perfectly!!! creamy like a pint of guinness!!!!

                H Upmann Connoisseur no.1 (MOA FEB 10)
appearance (out of 15): 13 (this was the 'runt' of the pack, but still great looking)
smoking characteristics (out of 25): 24 (loads of smoke, perfect burn, beautiful aroma, for being so young it never once got bitter or hot))
flavour (out of 25): 24 (amazing array of flavours, very subtle and complex)
overall impression (out of 35): 33 (for a young cigar, simply put, it's amazing)
                total (out of 100): 94

tbh, it was so good i just ordered up another cabinet!!! i don't think there's any higher recommendation!!!

                all the best,

                alex
Off the back of this glowing review I added a cab of Connie 1's to my wish list way back in the spring. I ordered a box a good few weeks ago and they've been resting up for the last 5 weeks (I was telling myself to leave them 'til after Xmas but I got impatient!) - as luck would have it I seem to have managed to find the same box code MOA FEB 10...

I cracked the box last weekend and have smoked 3 already, they are stunning little smokes full of lovely floral woody notes. They're a cracking size too, the 48 ring gauge is about perfect IMHO...

Just sent the vendor a note to see if they've any more of the same code in stock!

um'd and ar'd recently and ended up going for the mag 48 LE's and they are lovely, but still wanna try these.
Meant to get much better with age.

You certainly didn't make a bad choice, the Mag 48's are another cracking smoke. Been trying to stockpile these too. I just seem to be really enjoying Upmann as a brand at the moment...

Yeah I agree, they are always one of my favourites, think they are one of the best brands depending on personal taste.
