Nestor Miranda Collection 1989 Rosado

Appearance: Impressive. Smooth, rich chocolate brown wrapper with just one or two surface veins and a neatly applied cap. The Nestor Miranda 1989 also has one of the biggest and best printed (almost bank-note quality) bands I?ve ever seen on a small cigar, but the brand name itself is so ?titchy? I had to get my linen tester out to read it!
Construction: The cigar looked nicely rolled and felt well filled with just the right measure of ?pinch? at the band. The pre-draw was resistive and the smoking draw, whist a little more loose by comparison, was in fact pretty good and delivered loads of velvety smoke which sometimes had an almost powderlike quality. The burn, especially in the second half was a little haphazard, but not to any worrying degree and did corrected itself for the final third. The ash was basically compact although a little untidy on occasion. Four tap-offs, no re-lights, no corrections.
Flavour: The pre-light aroma on 1989 was amazing, something to do with the Rosado wrapper maybe, it was fresh wood and very intense. The start was subtle with some nice flavours reminiscent of chocolate, warm spice, cedar, and sweet Expresso. The coffee notes became stronger towards the end of the first third and I could also detect some pepperiness in retro-hale. The cigar then remained pretty much the same until the final third when the flavours began to pick up with the coffee and woody cedar notes intensifying quite substantiously. On this smoking experience, I would say the 1989 begins mild to medium bodied and in the last third builds to the upper half of medium.
Overall: The Nestor Miranda 1989 Rosado is a pleasant mild to medium flavoured smoke, but doesn?t quite match the Nestor Miranda Coffee Break in depth and strength. http://www.ukcigarforums.com/showthread.php?t=7254
The 1989 isn?t particularly complex either, but that lack is more than compensated for by its nice balance and very smooth delivery. I didn?t experience any great nicotine strength, so for the morning or early afternoon I would say this is a very nice little cigar.
