Appearance: Stout, neatly box pressed barrel with a mottled claro colorado wrapper with several surface veins,
Construction: Easy pre-draw and smoking draw, the smoke texture itself was light, but had a nice smooth quality start-to-finish. I have seen reports of construction issues with the RASCC, but I?ve always been happy with this box and had no wrapper or burn problems and the ash stayed compact and firm throughout the smoke (see pics). Two tap offs. No re-lights required.
Flavour: The pre light aroma is musky, decaying wood (Sorry!). The first hit is the soured, lemon Cuban norm which quickly evolves into a light, lemon/woodlike flavour ? from which during the course of the first third ? the lemon slowly dissipates but never disappears entirely. At two thirds the flavour became distinctly woody and dryer, which lacking description I?m calling the better end of the woodshop. The sweet lemon under note was also occasionally present as was the slightest hint of sweet pepper. In the final third, the base wood flavour is accompanied by hints of coffee, herbs and nuts. Delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed it!.
Overall: Not as good as the RASS maybe, but a pretty good fall-back when it?s -1?C, just starting to snow and you don?t wish to invest the time into, or rush a bigger smoke. This cigar I catagorise as medium strength, it has a smooth start, a definite middle and nice finish ? IMHO a good anytime Cuban, and very easy on beginners.
