Ramon Allones Small Club Corona
It was my great pleasure to smoke a Ramon Allones Small Club Corona last night. I have to thank The Stogiedawg for the chance as he had noticed that I had declared a wish to explore smaller Havana cigars. I usually smoke Robustos.
Why a smaller cigar? Well, to be honest, a Robusto requires more time to smoke than I have in a busy working week. I bring a little work home in the week, but lots of my eveings are spent performing or rehearsing music in the band.
The Smoke Police have banned smoking in the halls and studios where we rehearse. Most of us in our band are smokers, and we're all forced to take a break outside now rather than keep playing in rehearsals. This is - excuse me - a fucking pain.
I have given up Villigers as an over-the-counter smoke because I've realised that next to a quality stogie, they really are shite.
So...
I'm after a quality smoke that might fit in easily with evening routine at home, as well as a potential drive smoke. I admit to liking driving and smoking on occasions, and really like a smoke on my 20+ minute return from school. (Can you imagine why?...).
What I don't want is a sort of cigarette replacement cigar.
Now I start to get excited because I have not explored shorter smokes - and I adore Ramon Allones cigars!
I will certainly look into buying a box of these - and will start comparing prices today.
My appreciations here are a bit random, and I will not be totting up a score.
Construction: Pert and manoeuvrable in my hand. I'm used to fat smokes, but this is comfortable. Solid, smaller construction. Mid-brown colouring.
Burn and Ash: Superb on the slow blue smoke scale! Fantastic and clingy. Clearly a well-packed cigar as its burn was consistently slow.
Smell and Taste: It brightened me up immediately on the first smell. Woody. The taste is DEFINITELY Ramon Allones, which means some gum stinging to me - which means I'm a happy man! RA are a truly spicy smoke.
Draw: Easy peasy, and comfortable. Slight draw in the mouth resulted in masses of smoke blown out. Love that!
Duration: For a smaller cigar, I got a good half hour's pleasure from the stick.
I did not have the sense that this was a weakened-down Ramon Allones just because it was smaller. It punched me very well from the start, and I'd eaten and water-freshened my mouth and rested with EastEnders and shit before lighting up.
I've got some others in my humi, and I'm going off to look at prices now for future purchases.
