  • Punch Small Club (RE France)

Okay guys, here's a review for you. Hope you enjoy it.

Even though my past encounters with regional editions of Cuban cigars were more often than not below par, I did find some gems that were outstanding. This is what always motivates me to try out these REs, and today, I am going to present you the French Punch Small Club.

As you have probably figured from its name, this cigar is a small one, a petit robusto measuring 4 x 50. Reminding me of the Bolivar Petit Libertador that I have tried out a while ago, I was hoping that the Punch Small Club would have a different flavor style. Although, at these dimensions, cigars usually present a heavy aspect, this one was pleasant to the eye and startlingly elegant. The appearance of the wrapper was flawless and the bands looked harmonious.

Getting to know each other better, the Punch Small Club revealed a perfect draw, and surprisingly for a cigar of its type, a finely honed burn. All the way through, it didn?t wander off its path. The ash left behind reached 2 inches before I had to tap it off.

Once lit, the Punch Small Club will engulf your senses with a moderate peppery aroma that quickly fades into flavors of cedar. Even though the first third reminded me of the Punch Punch, new, unexpected flavors of gingerbread and butter soon flood my palates. This second third is marvelous, having a long finish and presenting a full flavor. Near the end, the Punch Small Club will noticeably burn faster, as a reminder to slow down.

The 10+ EUR price tag puts these cigars out of the budget range, but paying the extra for quality is worth it.

    Verdict: recommended!

Thought I paid over 10 EUR. Thanks for the correction.

Thanks for the review Cigar inspector, I'm going to have a look at these next time I am in the local cigar shop.
If any of you guys are desperate to find them and can't get them in the UK, if I find some here in France I can always ship some out to you.
Let me know if you are interested and I will check it out.

Nice review CI! I don't know why, but the background of the photo (which is great by the way), puts me in mind of a boat.

I'm a big fan of the RE concept, and have been pleased with all my forays into the collection thus far. One think I've noticed, above all else, is that they are, seemingly without fail, absolutely gorgeous cigars with stunning wrappers.

All of that said, I do wish they'd bring out a couple of slimmer cigars for a change though. (You're sounding like a broken record - shut up Simon...)
