Not often I go in for Cuabn Mini id normally only go for the Puritos perhaps a Cohiba Club but generally avoid the minis but I fancied a little taste of Cuba over this weekend however this bank holiday falls before my Payday so no way to get anything more substantial in, since I tend to explore more NW stuff i dont restock on cubans often. Anyway the only pic ive got is the stock these little sticks are just so little that taking any pics didnt seem worthwhile.
As minis go the little box they come in is very nice, the mini black box exudes a certain level of confidence something this dinky really shouldn't, The lovely box smells hay grassiness sweetness typical cuban smell so far so good, on the dry draw hay sweetness slight coco powder grassy yep that checks out. OK so onto the lighting lovely stone grey ash for such a tiny and I mean teeny tiny stick its given off plenty of smoke, definite Hay/grassiness followed by just a touch of pastichio nuttiness all of this in a very smooth light package. Actually really quite impressed by the smoothness of this actually, didnt over heat but then I like to take my time even with a cuban mini.
As it goes own the strength improves but never beyond the smoothness and mildness just those grassy hay notes and pastichio nuttiness are easier to detect especially on the retro-hale which is where the pastichio can be a little more pronounced, the hay gives way to a more grass maybe slightly earthy profile but never bitter earth oddly that hay/grass sweetness lends itself to complimenting that earth tone along with the nuttiness.
In about 10-15 min its done which is about right a faster smoker could do it 5 but I think it would spoil what you can get from this little gem of a mini, so like a Purito if you are looking for a bit of Cuban magic but short on time or low on funds these do quite nicely, since my Cuban experiences have consisted of RYJ, Montes, H.Upman, Hoyo, Trinidad, Gunatemerra, Quintero,Punch and Cohiba this marks the first Partagas for me and if its bigger relatives improve upon this little taster here I might well add more Partagas to my rotation (when I can afford to) as I say NW tends to be were I do a lot of exploration but its nice every now and then to be surprised I may well next try the PDR El Criollito Half Corona next as I'm told its arguably one of the most Cuban NW on the market currently and Ill be interested to see how it does that.
Anyway for the 10.50 for a box of 10 mini this is actually a very reasonable price for what you get from the Serie Mini a deceptively flavourful little bugger.
