El Rey del Mundo Demi Tasse
Size: 100 x 30 — Entreactos
Smoke time: 35mins.
Note: The cigar is from an 08 box. The recommended ageing time is 20 years (not a typo).
Appearance: Deep brown, perfectly cylindrical, oily wrapper. Slightly veiny.
Construction: Good. Perfect burn throught. Draw very easy and for a small cigar creating a goodly amounts of pleasant, aromatic smoke. The ash stayed compact and firm, with the little demi-tasse needing no attention or re-lights during the smoke,
Flavour: Whoa ... Licorish in the first puff, just once sadly, glorious but never to return. Not that it mattered, the cigar is fresh, mostly woody leathery with a bit of saltiness and a subtle sweet almost dryness, not in the Dutch cigar meaning, but in the quality French White Wine sense of the word. Smoke this cigar slowly and the flavours are exquisit. The joy of the taste is that somehow the sweetness hides behind the woody, earthier tastes but is always there. This cigar doesn’t work in thirds instead slowly and almost imperceptively the intensity of flavour increases and just keeps improving. Down to the fingertips smoke this one! — Brilliant!
Overall: Great little Cuban. Possibly not to everyone’s taste, it being what Cat calls one of my anorexic cigars. Though light in strength, possibly also not for beginners as it has to be taken slowly and patiently to be fully enjoyed. Absolutly chuffed I’ve got these.
