Size: 5 3/4 x 40
Wrapper: Cafe Rosado
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua Criollo
Smoke time: 55mins
Appearance and Construction: The stick is what it?s name says. Elegantly proportioned with a rugged, chocolate coloured wrapper offset by a simple gold and white band. In the hand the Le Elegance feels well balanced and solid, however the absence of ?give? was a little worrying initially, but it proved groundless as the body softened during smoking.
Flavour: First puff met with strong, creamy, deep pepper and pronounced wood flavours, which were to be the dominant flavours of the cigar throughout the smoke. Some sweetness is detectable in the first third along with some nut and dried fruit tones. In the second third the flavours open up and become more caramalised. The cigar also becomes noticeably stronger. The piece de resistance of the Le Elegance comes in the final third, spiciness and burned wood predominant over refreshing, sweet ?greener? flavours. I would consider this a medium to strong cigar, but never too heavy or overwhelming.
Draw and Burn: Nothing to say really. Straight as a die burn. No overheating, so easy to smoke anyone could manage it. Faultless.
Overall: A brilliant afternoon?s smoke. This is one of my favorite cigars, and for which I am forever in jdawgs debt for gifting to me. If you haven?t smoked any of the Epernay range I recommend you give one a try. IMHO you won?t regret it.
