So even though its mighty cold I gave this that's been sat in my humi for a while a cut and a smoke,
So on the pre light very sweet floral overtones, a very veiny looking cigar looks beautiful, dry draw pure sweetness hinting at a touch of slight bitter earth. (not a fan of strong earthy flavours in my cigars).
Upon lighting, the burn was uneven but not a total loss, immediate hit was that if a sweet pepper right in the tongue, followed by a noticeable earthy bitterness. As the Cigar develops the earthy bitterness becomes more pronounced and the pepper becomes more white pepper but its only hits.
Sadly as it progresses the earthy tones become much stronger but luckily if its your thing the pepper balances the bitterness and so to my palate becomes well almost harsh (but I hasten to add my palate doesn't enjoy overly earthly cigars).
So a dissapointnent for me sadly I do prefer my maduro to have a nice sweetness to them and I'm afraid it's drowned out with that earth great if you love earth flavours not great if you don't.
This was part of my Maduro Sampler from cgars, and generally most have had that sweeter edge, but this and I'm expecting the Juliany I have as well will likely also be on the earthy side.
If earthy peppery tones are your thing get this while you can as I believe this has now been discontinued and whatever are in stocks are it. Its reasonably priced for UK prices but there we go.
I need a nice tangy sweet Inca maduro to get all the bitterness out of my palate. (shameless plugging of the Incas as in quite found of Peruvian cigars I must confess.) Though my next smoke will be the Luis Martinez Churchill don't know when mind.
