Had the chance to smoke several of these now, and if you're a Monte Edmundo fan you're in for a treat. It's an Edmundo but bigger. This may seem obvious, but hey, you never know it could've tasted completely different!
All enjoyed with a pot of Earl Grey - cleanses the pallet and doesn't over burden the senses like coffee or something stronger.
Appearance 13/15:
Medium coloured wrapper, some stretched leaf.
Flavour 22/25:
Marzipan to begin with, not too strong, very Montecristo. Hints of lemon and lime citrus flavours. Goes into vanilla flavours half way through, then to chocolate. Real Cuban flavours, typical of Monte's. Some Branston Pickle in there too. Plenty of variance of different tastes. Final third is awesome: chocolate and pepper through and through.
Smoking characteristics 24/25:
Lots of smoke - one for big smoke fans - long ash consistent burn, firm build. The draw is perfect, with a decent amount of air coming through the not-so densly constructed cigar - maybe more so than the usual PE/Edmundo's.
Overall impressions 31/35:
Definitely a great cigar, which is worth grabbing hold of, though I find myself wanting something stronger. One for a beginner for sure, if they can take the size - albeit they're probably better off with a PE.
Total out of 100: 90
Definitely worth keeping a couple of boxes for maturing, I can see it getting better and better with age.
If you're a fan of Monte Edmundo's you should definitely stock up.
