Just finished smoking the 4031 Tax Evader which i was gifted and thought i would review whilst things are fresh in my mind.
This Cigar was sent to me and on receipt i left it in my humi for as long as i could before giving in to the temptation. This cigar is 7 months old, rich in colour, very dark for a Maduro and smelt absolutely fantastic. The outer leaf was clean and smooth without veins and had a lovely shine to it as though it had been polished up to be placed on show.
I snipped off the end with my cheap disposable cutter (i broke my decent one) i kind of expected the cut to be damaged because of my cutter, but thankfully, the cut was clean and even.
I fired this beauty up in the normal way turning it on the tip of the flame to get an even burn. (only do this if im going to review) Once i was satisfied, i began to draw on this beaut nice and easily.
The Tax Evader was clearly a full bodied stick but of medium strength, the moment i took my first draw, i thought this was not what i was expecting. I had expected to be quickly overwhelmed by strength rather than flavour. I purposely lit this cigar on an empty stomach about 1030am to see what effect if any; smoking this on an empty stomach would have. It did not give me any dizziness feelings of nausea or light headedness, which surprised me.
After making so much effort to cut it evenly and light it evenly it quickly began to burn uneven which was a little disappointing, but not the end of the world.
The smoke began to billow clean and white and was quite a thick cloud, i checked both ends of the cigar, as from my experience the smoke is normally lighter at one end and darker; showing the nicotine at the end that comes into contact with the mouth. This cigar provided a nice even white smoke, the lack of light headedness combined with clean smoke, indicated to me that this was a cigar that has less nicotine content than a lot of others i have tried. It was however very rich and very smooth.
So into the first third there was a light cocoa flavour mixed with a hint of vanilla and a tiny bit of pepper and spice. As i started down this cigar the cocoa and vanilla soon dissipated and for the remainder of the cigar the pepper became stronger and the spices too. This had started to become an uncomfortable smoke leaving my mouth tasting like i had chewed on raw pepper corns. this continued from 2nd third to the end.
The unevenness of the burn took some time to level off and due to the unevenness the ash had to be broken off as the cigar itself started to form an ash erection!! At certain points the cigar would spit from the heated end as though to wet, whilst i know it wasn't; and with it it would spit out a single charge of smoke in a horizontal fashion which i found quite bizarre. None the less this did not have any effect on the flavours, or i think, the burn.
There was an earthiness about this cigar which i thoroughly enjoy, i like my cigars to remind me of things, this one reminded me as many others have of kicking leaves in autumn and the early morning smell of wet garden dew.
By the time i had this cigar down to about half way, the burn began to even itself out and finally burnt evenly at the very end.
This is the first of a special blend that i have received and i understand that a second edition is going to be coming my way in due course which has been much improved.

This is not a cigar i would look to purchase (gladly receive for free though
) It left my mouth tasting like a pot of pepper corns and as the taste of pepper wore off my tongue began to tingle almost as though pleased to be free of the flavour.
If i were to mark this cigar out of ten i would give it;
Appearance: 8/10
flavour: 4/10
Smoothness:7/10
Strength: 5/10
Smoke: 8/10 (i like a cigar that billows white smoke)

Well given this cigar evaded the taxing palette of mine i feel its very appropriately named...
