Just thought I'd fill you in on what I was smoking last night.

    Wrapper: Ecuadorian Corojo
    Filler: Nicarguan
    Size: 5.5x52
    Shape: Box press robusto

Appearance: Almost flawless. A lovely looking box pressed cigar with a colour of mocha. No prominent veins and a good cap. 19/20

Prelight: The cigar was firm to the touch and a bit springy. Just like it should be, according to the experts. The prelight aroma was of what I can only describe as "farmyard" but this this was not a problem as I seem to like cigars that smell like this. Prelight draw was sweet and tasty. 19/20

Taste and draw: Although advertised as a full flavoured cigar, I found this very mild on light up. No throat ripper this! The first third was mild with tastes of wood and a certain sweetness and the second developed the woodiness while also introducing a small amount of spice to keep it interesting. The thrid stage developed into the full bodiedness that I had expected. There was an abundance of flavours on offer and it was hard to try and isolate one or two. There was pleanty of smoke and the ash was almost white, staying put for about two inches and burning straight and requiring no relights. 27/30

Overall conclusions: I liked this cigar and when I say I liked it, I mean I REALLY liked it! This had everything I look ofr in a cigar and I can happilly say that this was one the best cigars I've smoked! I usually find NCs to be a decent smoke but not on the par of a good CC. This cigar proved me wrong by being up there among the best! I smoked it down to finger burning length and I can honestly say that when I'm working again, I'll be buying more of these! 28/30.

Overall score: 93/100. Yes, it was that good!

G-man turned me on to the G.A.R. (much thankings, Mike) and I've been stocking them regularly since. A reliable, tasty smoke with almost-Cuban, almost-Padron nuances (to my taste, anyway) for about ?3-4 a stick. This could easily become my "go to" stogie.
