I was fortunate enough to be bombed with a Drew Estate EGG by our very own Shuckin... This is the most oddest cigar ive seen, but i smoked it tonight and although not very good at reviews.. here goes
This 'Egg' has been sitting in my Humi for about 2 weeks, i was waiting for it to hatch with lots of little cigarlings.. however i regret it didnt get much chance..
I lit this little beauty up in the normal manner, the end was about the thickness of a panatella and i figured it would be difficult to smoke, the first inch took just a matter of minutes to burn down, it started off smooth and creamy, very easy on the pallette almost to mild.
Then the burn reached the start to the egg and the whole world began to change. Made up of 4 different type of leaf, i immediatly began to notice some changes, the smoke was white and thick and it smelt delightfull. It started off with an even burn for about 10 to 15 minutes. Tasted in the first few moments of the actual egg of a mixture of light spices and that taste of autumn leaf as your walking through leaves kicking them and causing that damp smelling autumn dust, memories of childhood playing in leaves abound.
As the egg began to burn deeper, the flavours moved from light to a heavy taste of spices, gentle chocolate and almost a herbal yet relaxing taste.. So far so good, i wondered how the rest would be. The box says it takes 2 hours to burn and it took just a little more.
The egg began to burn un even but not to be detered continued to smoke it turning it with each intake trying to even the burn without success. When the egg started to get to the centre it began to change in flavour, almost oily and bitter, a bitterness ive come to taste in many nicaraguan sticks, there was a light saltyness which seemed to balance the bitterness really well.
By the time the egg was burning in the middle, halfway through, the bitterness became sweet and and the saltyness soon vanished leaving me with the sweet taste of gently roasted nuts mixed with popcorn. The centre section of the Egg was the best Nicaraguan sensation ive ever had pleasure to smoke.
Once passed the centre it was like smoking the egg in reverse, the sensations of the afore mentioned flavours retuning but in reverse order..
Towards the end due to the heat, the cigar began to soften, not in flavour but in texture, it became difficult to hold due to becoming spongy but that didnt seem to matter, it was a delight to smoke.
Id like to thank Shuckins for sending me this delightful cigar it was fabulous.. Heres some pics..
