  • H Upmann 1999 Vintage Corona

Today I'm lightly reviewing the H Upmann 1999 Vintage Corona which was kindly gifted to me.

    Appearance 13/15:
It's a very firm box pressed corona, and the construction is superb.

    Flavour 20/25:
Opening draw is good, with vanillas and pistachio flavours. Further in and I get oranges and a creamier taste.

Half way through and the creamy flavours are still present with the familiar bitter coffee tastes dictating the pallet and a slight almondy presence at the end.

    Smoking characteristics 20/25:
For a small-ish cigar, it's quite potent with a strong body and after taste. Reminds me of a few of the Bolivar's I've had. Plenty of smoke and long ash.

    Overall impressions 30/35:
One to check out. Sorry I couldn't describe it further, I think I need a couple more before I can provide a more in-depth review

    Total out of 100: 83

      99

1999 was a good year for smokes IMO. The VR from 99 were the best I had ever smoked.

      Nice little Corona mate.

A turn up for the books... the boss posts a review (I've been back through the whole forum and this is the first ). Anyway...

        Nice review.

Vanilla, pistachios, good draw, long ash, lots of smoke... sounds like a cigar that's worth trying.

I smoked one of these yesterday but I was chatting through it and didn't make notes so I can't match the Boss for florrid prose.

What I would say is that this is a perfect cigar size for me. It was medium strength but very tasty. Very very smooth all the way through.

Like Deano I am going to go looking for a few more of these and I am going to smoke one like Deano on my tod and really focus on it.

I think they are available in most of the London stores now, I will be around the stores on Tuesday and will check who has them and what the retail is.

Oh yes and check out the crazy retro vintage band too!

            Yummy!

Where!? / It's not in the Reviews forum (or at least not a thread started by your good self).

And there I was feeling smug about my research...

I'm told they are heading for the London shops now. There appear to be a lot of aged cigars coming out of the storage sheds/bond about now!!

I spoke to Edward at Davidoff and he says he might get a couple of boxes if there is demand so just give him a buzz!!
