got another of these yesterday in a grab bag from Atlantic cigars so thought i'd fire up the one thats been in the humi for 2 months.
Appearance/15
what a nice looking stick this is, i love the brown tissue logo'd sleeve on the bottom, it gives the stick a distinguished look. The stick itself has a really dark oily wrapper which is smooth and silky and even the box pressed shape( almost rectangle) does not distract from its overall appearance.15
Construction/smoking /25
The stick itself was quite firm to the touch but spingy and quite light in the hand. It cut no problem with a double blade guillotine cutter and lit very easily. It started off no problem and draw was almost effortless however several times it got abit uneven in its burn and had to be corrected like a naughty schoolgirl. Even with the burn issue there was never a time i felt it would die on me and it just kept on burning and producing a thick white (with some slight blue tinge ) smoke. 20
Flavour/25
Pre draw i got a slightly sweet fruity taste and actually got a spicy tingle on the end of my tongue giving me hints of what was to come. It started off staight away with a spice but soon gave way to a dark chocolate flavour. This spice and chocolate seem to keep swaping places every few draws for about the first inch or so until it settled down to a more chocolate and woody taste with hints of leather. The second third got back to the spice and wood flavour with pepper overtones until you got toward the end third when the peppery spice flavour ramped right up and reminded me of the last part of a punch churchill i had gifted to me by JPMOORE. 25
Overall/35
I would say this is not one for the beginner (even though i am) due to the full bodied flavour of this stick but i would say hey what the hell, give this stick a try. The burn issue was a slight annoyance but i would still say for a NC this is a cracking smoke. Towards the end i felt chilled and had that cigar buzz you get with the slight light headiness you feel and it was definitely a two cup of coffee cigar. 31
total 91/100.
