Here goes my 1st review on UKCF
I mentioned the other day that one of my favourite Cuban Robustos was the RyJ Exhibition No 4. The complex almost understated tones and flavours which blend together in each third and the power increase from start to finish, make it absoloubtley astonishing in my opinion. Wizardry that Harry Potter would be proud of!
I cut this with a V Cutter.
1st Third(Mild/Medium Strength) Medium Bodied
The first third of this cigar opens up with grassy vegetal tones mixed with cream, kind of like walking through a field of freshly cut wet grass, only pausing slightly and smelling the end of a vanilla ice cream...towards the end of the first third, you have definitely started to taste the vanilla ice cream and the grassy vegetal notes have been toned down slightly,as if they are still there but...only slightly, reminding you of their lingering presence still.
2nd third(Medium Strength) Medium Bodied
The second third carries on where the first third left off, lots of creamy vanilla but,the grassy vegetal flavours are starting to give way to the taste of stewed dark fruits, cherry and blackberry which pair beautifully with the cream,as the second third comes to an end the cream notes have all but disappeared leaving the rich taste of those dark stewed fruits and the slight introduction of cocoa.
Final Third (Medium/Full Strength) Medium Bodied
As we enter the final third the cocoa/chocolatey flavours start to become the more dominant flavours with the slight taste of dark fruit and the fleeting taste of vanilla cream which is present again...but only slightly. Rich bold Coffee notes replace the fruit and cream and are also joined by dark woody earthy tones mixed with the chocolate.
Smoking Time 1hr 10mins
The cigar is almost unrecognizable from the one i first lit up,a piece of absoloute wizardry as i mentioned earlier! Far better and more reliable than its mixed up younger brother the short churchill.
It starts out with the power and feel of an H Upmann ,then settles into typical RyJ flavours and then right at the end you would swear you were smoking a D4 or RASS.
The smoke to take you on a journey
