I like a lonsdale, it is just a nice size for a cigar in my opinion. In their latest edition Cigar Aficionado rated this one 91 and had this to say about it 'Deceptively complex for a cigar with such a tan wrapper, this medium-bodied cigar imparts a rich nutty smoke overlaid with a spicy cinnamon, crushed walnuts and a creamy cafe au last finish'. I can tell you from the outset that I did not get any cinnamon from this cigar and it wasn't complex at all.

They got the tan wrapper description right but why would they that a tan wrapper wouldn't be complex. This was a well made stick as you'd expect from this brand, well packed with a slight spring to it rather than rock hard. The wrapper had a delicious cocoa scent to it which progressed to a flavour in the cold drawer combined with a tea like taste. The draw was just right throughout the cigar, not too much effort but no wind tunnel.
Once lit this cigar was smooth and creamy with just a hint of spice on the finish. My smoking partner got a hint of something floral/fruity from his that reminded him of cardamom. He was getting a hint of sweetness combined with cashews, I got coffee notes.

As the smoke progressed it remained creamy and smooth and I definitely found those coffee au lait flavours with a developing nuttiness but it was never complex to any degree, it was just a steady enjoyable smoke with a low nicotine yield. James's stick burned perfectly to the end but mine required several relights. Despite that this is a box I don't regret buying.
