    La Rica Robusto
La Rica Robusto Tubed - La Rica has a Nicaraguan filler blend and Ecuadorian wrapper. Length 5? X Ring Gauge 50 - Well rolled wrapper with a spicy aroma. Good draw, a slight peppery spiciness. Best for the afternoon.

I bought this cigar from a lovely place in Barnstaple, Devon (http://www.youings.com/) A nicely laid out store with a helpful lady, after being confronted by some french kids asking me to buy smokes for them, with me making eye contact with the shop owner while they do this, I bought this cigar. I saw this cigar brand on various sites a few months before and I was tempted to buy a stick just for it's branding alone.

I purchased a robusto for ?6 which I thought was entirely reasonable for a robusto, and I'd save it for when I get back to my holiday apartment.

As anticipated the cigar tin was nicely coloured, as was the band and the construction looked very appetising. Now Ill try not to be too biased with this review, but Ill have you know I was smoking this while on a sea-front balcony of my apartment in Woolacombe,Devon, it was a lovely evening and a superb vista.

Lighting the cigar was a quick and easy process, the cigar was lit perfectly, even with sea breeze it was perfectly fine. The draw was lovely, I normally have trouble with larger ring gauges but I was surprised and relieved.

Flavor wise it was almost peppery, a nice pepper. The smoke felt very clean and pure and nice to hold in the mouth to absorb the flavor, no grimey limey smoke here. Watchin the ocean with a cigar is really something, especially in the evening sunset.

Lovely strong structured ash. I really support non-cuban brands, some Ive had are even better than cubans. So next time you ponder or see a La Rica, grab one. Really all around good smoke. The only bad thing I can say about them is that they should of had a 'buy one get another free' coupon inside so I could get another

Just got a sampler set of these to try.

The La Rica "rich maduro" cigars are splendid - really nice although they often have burn issues these do not usually spoil the smoke.

Wow, completely missed this thread first time around. Really interesting write up Mr B.

I've been looking at the La Rica range almost every time I check my normal supplier's website. Always come close to buying, but haven't quite gone through with it. Following your write up I shall definitely be putting one down on my next order.

I know what you mean, I think my review of the ERdM Petit Corona may have been slightly coloured by a similar setting just a few miles away in Croyde... that's not to say that the ERdM Petit Corona is not a great smoke though.

And now... picture time... taken in Woolacombe about a month ago:

I had one of these about 2 years ago with three of my mates, they are all non smokers and one of them bought the cigars for us to have on a weekend camping.

I thought it was a pretty good cigar for the price. Very easy to light and all four had a perfect even burn, one of my mates managed to have a 1.5 inch long ash before it fell off and it left behind a very even burn with no cone in the middle. For non smokers they all appeared to be enjoying it.

I thought it was mild and a very easy smoke which was quite satisfying. There were no harsh after tastes, the construction of the cigar was very impressive and consistent throughout. The wrapper colour was a ncie shade also and a good quality leave with no veins in it.

I would recommend this as a cigar to try as a one off and maybe a regular visitor in your humidor.

              Great review Bulg

La Ricas' not one I've tried so going to have to do something about that...

I always take the family down to Ilfracombe every year and we stay at the Arlington Hotal late May/early June for a week and we always pop along to Woolacombe - lovely place.

              Cheers, HabanoSy
