Picked 3 of these up recently and smoked the first today and it won't be the last !

Beautifully constructed with a uniform firmness throughout the length of the cigar, not a blemish to be seen on the wrapper.

Pre light draw was very smooth, with just a hint of chocolate and hay.The first few draws left a dry dusty feel on the palate and I was a little concerned this wasn't going to be an enjoyable experience. Fortunately initial impressions couldn't have be more wrong as this gave way to a lovely blend of coffee and a light grassy/hay flavour and stayed this way almost right to the end of the 2nd third, when a hint of leather and spice eased their way in.
This was accompanied for maybe 5/6 draws by a definite background of toasted coconut and brown sugar, which gave way towards the middle of the final third to a much more pronounced spicy nuttiness, of which the flavour stayed on the palate for a good while after the cigar was nubbed eventually mellowing to a lovely creamy flavour in the mouth.
Altogether an hour and 15 mins of pure smoking heaven and I'll be making the call to try and reserve any more of these they might have.

Nice review RDBM. I believe the name of the vitola was El Rey De Mundo Choix De l'epoque. Try saying that after a few beers! Interestingly Habanos stopped using the term Reino Unido/United Kingdom on regional releases and now the band reads Gran Bretana. Wonder why they changed?

Thanks guys. Joss, yes you're bang on, I've no idea either why they changed it, all I know is the Reino Unido signifies the older stock. Picked up another half dozen of these today, really wanted a box but unfortunately I have no where to keep them. Can't seem to find a decent sized humi I like so have 3 smaller ones on the go just now and they're brim full. Took a punt on an older style Montecristo box/humi on gumtree, will post a couple of pics later to see if anyone knows if its genuine.

John.

Interesting review, glad you enjoyed it - I had quite a few around the time they came out and like most others I spoke to, we rather panned it! Maybe age has helped.

Interesting to know Deano, hopefully someone has one tucked away somewhere they can try and let us know if they have indeed aged well or whether I have no idea what I'm talking about

I have a few, I'll grab one out and have a re-puff at some stage!
Regardless, it's your palette (and the palette is completely changeable on a day-to-day basis) - if you enjoyed it then that's fine!! Sod what others think. I regularly like/dislike cigars others have the opposite feelings to.

Haha very true Deano, opinions are like a$$holes, everyone's got one ! I may actually try another in the next couple of days. The latest batch are from a different supplier so I'm hoping it won't make any difference but we'll see.
