This was smoked blind in January for the UK Cigar Scene e-publication, hence no band[emoji4] The review below is the full length version I submitted.
"This attractive looking cigar had a pleasant pre-light aroma from its mid sheen wrapper, which sported slight veining. There were some minor imperfections such as a slightly lumpy filler and a faint indentation around the circumference about a third down from the head. These aspects are being critical as the overall appearance was impressive. The draw was good both pre-light and during the smoke with appropriate resistance at both.
Ash was reasonably firm and fell off at about an inch and a half. Burn-wise, I had no significant issues and whilst it never sat razor sharp or straight, no touch ups or relights were required.
I smoked this cigar outdoors, on the patio which has an overhead porch and is covered on two sides. Whilst the evening was wind free, I would have liked to have smoked this indoors to see what the room note offered, but our home is smoke free.
In terms of strength and flavours, I will be the first to admit that I often struggle to pick up and express the nuances of many flavours. Given that, I was aware of Herr Hazelnut pervading throughout. Miss Marzipan, who was delicate and slightly built, made an occasional appearance. Did I pick up some minerals? I'm not sure.
I feel the smoke was fairly linear with little progression, which was not really disappointing as this cigar does what it does quite well in terms of a stable presentation throughout. With that said, my palate firmly leans towards Cubans and whilst my view is that I would not necessarily go and purchase this independently, those who do enjoy NCs, would probably not be disappointed if they picked one up and gave it a run out.
Overall, a good quality cigar it seems, but not for me in the long run. "
Happy schmoking.
