Ratings for this particular smoke:
Appearance 5 out of 5
Really impressive. A great light chocolate brown, couldn't get over how soft to the touch it was and it just smelled great unlit. Couldn't wait to blaze it up.
Aroma 3 out of 5
To be honest, not as great as I hoped it was going to be but then, I was banished to the stairwell so couldn't savour the reward of a smoky room.
Burn 10 out of 20
Lit it unevenly (tut, tut, tut) but despite that was a bit taken aback by the speed of unravelling. Not usually that bad but could have just been the particular stick in question. Managed to claw it back, though, and secured a more even burn towards the end.
Taste 15 out of 20
Hard one to define, this. Started off a little bitter but 5/10 minutes in, really kicked into gear and delivered the perfect chill-out draw that I was looking for. Spicier than I had anticipated.
I tried this cigar because I was under the impression that it was fairly similar to a Montecristo, a perennial favourite. Not sure about that, actually. Was less creamy and more peppery than my usual Monte experience. Nevertheless, has chilled me out good and proper so if you're looking for a slightly spicier version of the Monte then the Diplomaticos No 2 is for you.
