This Portuguese Regional Edition was a gift from SimonG and is the standard Robusto sized cigar.
The wrapper was very smooth cigar with only minor veins. The wrapper and cap could have been better applied, but the cigar looked very good overall, and had a nice band. The cigar felt well and evenly packed with a good amount of give.
At first a salty flavour came through with some chilly also making its way in as the first third progressed; there was also a woody flavour present in the background. In the second half of the first third a musty flavour also came through. Cream came through in the middle third with the salt and wood also remaining. As the cigar reached the half way point the cream continued but more of a moss and citrus flavour came through. In the final third cocoa started to come through before a floral nutty flavour developed.
The draw was perhaps a little easier than I would liked but was far from being a wind tunnel. The burn was very even, and although it did canoe slightly as the final third began, it was fine after a correction. The smoke was thick and smooth from the beginning to end and the ash was thick, strong and had a nice grey colour.
Overall this was a fantastic smoke, and I'm surprised that the cigar isn't more well known and spoken about.
