  • Drew Estate Java Mint Toro

I can hear the puro-ists amongst you cringing already having just read the title but this is a damned good cigar. As you would expect from Drew Estate the construction was perfect. This box pressed toro comes in at 6" x50 and has a premium Brazilian Mata Fina maduro wrapper, aged 3 years, concealing long fillers from Nicaragua. When I removed the cellophane it was like sniffing an After Eight mint with a massive hit of chocolate and mint.
Once cut the cold draw was very light and tasted of mint and the cap was also sweetened.
It lit easily and was soon delivering plenty of smoke. The burn on this cigar was perfect, the ash dropped every inch and it needed no relights.
The smoke was very mild and tasted fresh and minty with no hint of pepper at all. MLW said that it wasn't as minty as a menthol cigarette if that helps. The exhaled smoke continued that chocolate mint smell. She also got nuances of vanilla from it too but not for me. The flavour died out in the last two inches and the final inch was a little harsh else the pin may have been deployed.
I imagine this cigar would be perfect when you have a cold and just have to have a stogie. I hope that I won't fin rout this year however.

This sounds like a very interesting smoke, I have never really enjoyed flavoured cigars but one that has an after eight twist to it has to be a tried.
SilentBob is quiet no more, name change to VocalBob?

Nice review, though sweetened caps are a little pet hate of mine. Mint Chocolate does sound good.

Was there a reason? Like they think it appeals to children?

That was a point of concern raised in the American press recently. They felt that the trend for flavoured cigars would lead them to cigarettes, eh?
