So had this sat in my tupperdor for a little while and was wondering when to smoke it not having a clue what to expect. Any how I took my chance when the sun broke through on the evening of what had been a very wet day. Boy I was not disappointed.
Had a lovely deep musty smell to it with a dark oily wrapper that had a soft spring to it. All in all a very pleasant cigar in the hand even with the box pressed finish which I feel sometimes can ruin the feel.
Didn't do a cold draw taste unfortunately but after lighting I was treating with deep musty wood and cream very similar to a Bolivar. This soon disappeared in to a not quite as smooth dry coffee and heavy notes of wood and leather. I was genuinely taken a back as my last few non-Cubans had been a tad disappointing.
As the smoke progressed it kept in very much the same vein of flavours with the odd treacle note surfacing which was very pleasant, minimal pepper. Throughout though there was a hint of occasional heat and maybe spice but it came across as a tad harsh.
The burn was great throughout and went a little awry towards the end but corrected itself.
Now I'm not one for nubbing a cigar I'm very much in the vein of "finish when you're not enjoying it"
I took it past this last photo and only out it down then because it went out.
Overall a very good cigar and much more in the range of quality Cubans.just short of great because of the slight harshness.
I'll certainly be buying more in the future. I have a much larger one to smoke as well that came in the AB collection I got which I'm expecting to be great!
