This little handmade stick is a very cheap smoke at under a quid. It promises full flavour and in truth it nearly hits that for me. The cold draw is easy but the stick isn't light or insubstantial and the stick itself is playable and oily. Cold draw tastes of earthy tobacco with notes of liquorice stick, truffle and a hint of wet Barbour. Its a salty wrapper as dark as any and has a smoky smell before lighting.
The stick takes a little care during lighting to ensure an even start and even then mine canoed for the first inch which is nearly a third of this little beast.
The uneven burn did even out but caused the first third to be a little hot, it did however give big clouds of thick smoke with an oily quality. The dominant flavour is smoky liquorice and earthiness.
The ash dropped at about an inch in one piece and the burn started to even out. By the half way point the stick is quite oily and pliable but holding together well. I find it hard to slow my pace and keep the cigar cool due to the small size, for the money it's giving a lot back as well.
The construction is better than expected for its price but the wrapper quality is uneven at best. Lots if large veins and irregularities make the wrapper burn unevenly at times although it seems to catch up. Still holding together well mainly due to the durable and pliable wrapper.
Smoke is still coming on thickly but the flavour is starting to get bitter which is leading me to the treat cupboard for something sweet.
I ditched it with about a third left due to the bitterness but on another day could easily see me taking it further.
This little devil is a very cheap handmade cigar, not having a vast knowledge is making me wonder at the turn of phrase "handmade"! Could it mean machine rolled and hand finished? I'm sure someone will know but whatever the truth of it this stick has pleased me at the price. I can easily see me enjoying these while working over the months.
