Sorry Rascal but Jeremy was right on this occasion, nothing wrong with this AF at all, in fact it was a really nice smoke. Called the Curly Head because of its soft foot this Lonsdale comes in at 6.5" x43 and has what looks like a Colorado wrapper encasing a blend of long and short filler tobaccos. They were quite soft to the pinch and the wrapper smelled of sweet tobacco. The surprise came on cutting it when we found the head smelled of toasted cereal, very pleasant indeed. The draw was almost hollow it was so light and yet the cold draw had very little flavour at all.
It lit easily and launched with quite a strong toasted nut flavour that settled down to a mild, smooth and nutty taste that became creamier as the burn progressed. Bearing in mind these were smoked right out of a new box they burned well for the first two thirds but I experienced a little flowering into the final part. Mark's cigar stayed true all the way down.
The flavour got a little harsh around the final third but a quick purge sorted that out and it ended up being a very pleasant experience. Not one that rocked my boat but a smooth and enjoyable smoke.
One comment about the wrapper was that the slightly raised veins were darker in colour as if they had been handled but this could have been due to ageing as the box was dated 2011.
In summary a good everyday smoke at a very good price.
