Flores y Rodrigues is a Dominican puro and they made a limited edition vitola available to a number of different suppliers in the States. No supplier got the same one and mine got the Coney. This unusual shape is 6.5" long and goes from a 38 to a 48 at the foot. The wrapper is a dark toothy Maduro with a slightly sweet mocha scent, it was quite firm except for some softness at the cap. Once cut the draw was easy with a slightly salty taste and a chilli sting on the lips. Lit up and it put out so much smoke that I had to move the ashtray to the other side of the table! Initially it tasted like salted caramel without the sugar for the first inch or so before developing into a slightly bitter roasted walnut flavour. This surprised me somewhat as the first one of these I smoked had a leathery woody taste which did come through into the back of the second third. The burn was quite even but a few relights were required but no corrections.
