This cigar was the topic of a short discussion a few weeks ago which prompted me to give it a go. Here's the official blurb: 'Moontrance is an intricate blend of natural exotic fruit and bourbon vanilla. Renowned for its caramel-like sweetness, bourbon vanilla is mixed with Georgia peaches and other organic fruits, then splashed with the tropical essence of white Hawaiian honey. A mild blend of Dominican tobaccos is gently misted with this well-rounded extract and finished with a grade-one Cameroon wrapper'
And the review? Like all CAO cigars it is very well made, the Cameroon wrapper is a Colorado colour and very smooth. The cigar measures 4" x40 and in addition to the band has a cedar wrap and a blue satin ribbon. Even through the cellophane the smell is amazing, pure Bourbon vanilla, you do not want these in the same humidor as your Cubans. I have now segregated my infused cigars to avoid cross contamination. Take the cello off and in addition to the vanilla there is a definite hint of coconut as well. It was a very firm stick and I V cut it. The cold draw was very firm and needed a good suck and tasted of vanilla (obviously) and a touch of cinnamon. What was very obvious is that CAO have not sweetened the wrapper like Acid.
It lit very nicely but wow that draw, I have never had to suck so hard on a cigar before and it wasn't plugged. In fact it burned perfectly all the way to the end with a pale grey ash that dropped at an inch and no relights required.
A hint of cappuccino developed in the second third but I never got any honey or peaches and the flavour remained constant to the end with no pepper at all but a little touch of cigarette towards the end.
I enjoyed this but it is probably my least favourite CAO so far (I'm not counting the cigarillo).
