So here we have another cigar from the CAO stable, the all Nicaraguan Gold in Perfecto vitola. Faced with a choice who wouldn't want this gorgeous shape. This cigar measures 6" x 60 at its widest point and is wrapped in a Colorado Claro wrapper, or as Smoking Obsession's Bryan Glynn says 'Its a nice tan colour'. The wrapper was well done with no prominent veins and smelled faintly of sweet caramel. This stick was firmly packed and I took half an inch off with my cutter to ensure a good draw. The draw was perfect and tasted faintly of salt and slightly earthy.
It was easy to light and maybe next time I'll use a match or a soft flame as the foot scorched a little being so small. It was soon burning nicely though and giving off plenty of smooth creamy smoke with a clean leather taste. There was no pepper from this cigar and the flavour remained constant to the final third when it changed to a roasted nut flavour with a little hint of sweetness but the same freshness on the palate all the way through.
The burn was good and it needed one relight during the two hours it lasted. Apparently according to the reviews I read the CAO Gold Vintage is even better than this but this is still worth a smoke. Jury is still out on whether to buy any more.
