This cigar will be familiar to many of you but this was my first and smoked at JJs where it was recommended by the member of staff who served me. It was an unbanded stick selected from a cabinet of 50 but I didn't think to ask the age. It measured 5" x 60 and the wrapper was almost paperlike in texture with a sweet Cuban tobacco scent.
I didn't notice any sweetness at first but taking a draw immediately after tasting Mark's RASS I immediately noticed the delicate sweetness of smoke that was recommended to me. The overall flavour for me was mild and leathery until about half way through when I was surprised by a transition that was almost pine-like in its astringency.
What I enjoyed most about this cigar was the total lack of pepper all the way to the end. Smooth and mild throughout, just how I like it.

For me, this stick needs age. It's a waste without it.
The fiddy cab is at least from 2010 so you have at least 3 years of age on it. I'd highly recommend getting more of these unbanded beauties

These burn so well as well. almost perfect which is a real bonus in my books

No band means between 2001 and 05

Check. Whooops. They only discontinued the fiddy cab in 2010 after giving it a band in 2005? I'll stand corrected

That also gives another reason to get more of them

Yep 50 cabs started in 2001, bands started in 05/06 and the 50 was discontinued in 10.

That makes it the oldest cigar I have smoked so far.

Nice review PJ & congrat's on a new 'oldest cigar' smoked; sure you'll beat that before long. I think you were lucky not to try the C.S. too soon in your career, as it's easy to miss the finer points in milder cigars as a beginner. As you now have gained a fair experience over your year of smoking, you have managed to note this cigars significance. I think the trick is to find a slot in your regular smoking for lighter as well as the more full bodied cigars & at appropriate times of day & with suitable meals/ drinks to match them. This way you can appreciate their qualities & they won't be swamped by trying after a curry or in this case an overly strong drink.

All the ERDM's benefit age & I am personally a fan of cab's over dress boxes where possible. Unfortunately most of mine aren't pre-labels but they are reaching a decent age now.
