I've had this one stored away for a short while and I've been looking forward to having a go at it. It was voted Cigar Aficionado cigar of the year in 2011 (not that this means anything to me) and has generally good reviews, which led to my interest.
It looked and smelt great and had a lovely shiny maduro wrapper. It a lovely draw as well that had just the right amount of resistance. The first third had a strong woody flavour with hints of coffee as well as a mild peppery spice and a mild sweetness. The second third started off with an increase in spice intensity but soon all the flavours mellowed a bit and it was quite sweet. It really kicked it up a notch in the final third with strong woody, dark coffee flavours and pretty intense spiciness. I thought it was a very good cigar. It was described as extra full bodied which I think is a marketing ploy because although it was full bodied, it wasn't overpowering. I thought the Bolivar CJ was stronger and more flavourful than this one. uploadfromtaptalk1391941968799.jpg
