First of all a big thank you to JoeyGunz for sending me this, I have wanted to try one for a long time. Apparently this was an Ashtons line originally and they got together with Don Pepin to re-blend it for the Mi Amore line. The Magnifico is a toro coming in at 6" in length with a ring gauge of 52. The smoking time should average at 75 minutes to at 90 minutes my smoking times are definitely getting quicker. Good thing?
The wrapper is Mexican and the binder and filler from Nicaragua, it looks like Colorado Maduro and smells very sweet and almost like a cappuccino. This is a very good looking cigar with a triple cap but all the ones I saw on Youtube were very definitely box pressed whereas mine was more rounded, do the corners relax with time? The feel is quite springy like a Rocky Patel which usually indicates the burn will be good and this was no exception, it only needed one relight despite the ambient humidity and burned straight for most of its length. The ash was almost white and firm and held till an inch then dropped every inch so pretty regular there.
I punched this one and the draw was so light and easy, there was no resistance at all. The cold draw had caramel notes with a hint of pepper on my tongue.
Before I go on to lighting it, a mention for the band which is a miniature work of art. Collectors will love this one. It also had a red ribbon around the foot.
It lit very easily and settled in to produce plenty of fresh smelling smoke with a mild woody taste with sweet peppery notes and a very clean taste in the mouth. From there the flavour stayed the same with no real transitions until the last couple of inches when it got a little chemical.
In Europe these sell as La Aroma del Caribe for copyright reasons but they are definitely worth a try, cheers Joey.
