The Montecristo Open Eagle is a cigar of the Montecristo brand, and is considered to be of high quality. An excellent Cuban cigar, so some say. Montecristo cigars are considered by many smokers to be the benchmark which other cigar brands are tested against, so that surely speaks of itself and validates the brand's quality. Personally I have a soft spot for Montecristo n?mero 4, but the 2 is regarded as the official benchmark by many. The Montecristo Open Eagle is a cigar of the Geniales shape, 5.9 inches long and a ring gauge of 54. Possessing what I would describe as medium strength, the Montecristo Open cigar has established a good reputation amongst the expanding worldwide community of Cuban cigar aficionados. However, I would suggest that the proof is in the tasting, and that is why cigars are so very personal.

About the RP. I tried the Edge before though not sure it was the maduro. I think they are sort of OK for the price. The smoke development was always excellent and the built quality is great. You get something reliable but nothing great. I did enjoy the Decade before (see review) in maduro and natural. The 1990 and 1992 are still on my list to try though.

I would say the Edge series is nice, but just a bit thin and lacks the cream notes to round up the flavour profile.
