  • Rocky Patel The Edge Lite corona

By now you may have noticed that I favour a milder cigar and this is the second of these I have had. I'm happy to say they were consistent. I believe there is an issue of etiquette in some circles as to whether you should remove the label before smoking. Rocky makes this easy, its around the foot, you don't remove it and it ain't gonna taste very nice.
A very nice corona from Honduras coming in at 5.25 inches with a ring size of 47. The wrapper in Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade, the binder and filling from Nicaragua and Honduras. The wrapper is a light caramel colour with just a gentle tobacco smell. It felt loose to the touch especially at the foot but as I smoked it it all tightened up as the tobacco expanded with the heat I suppose. This made it very easy to light and it burned all the way to the end without faltering at all. The burn line was neat but it didn't like to hold onto its ash and dropped every time I put it down.
The cold draw was a dry tannic almost earthy taste and very free and loose. Once lit it provided plenty of very smooth and creamy smoke with an almost fruity scent when exhaled. The taste remained consistent until the last two inches when it began to get a little harsh so I let it go. It also had a very clean after taste. This one lasted me 65 minutes but you could get another 10 out of it at least if you didn't mind the final flavour.

Nice review mate. Not had one of those yet.
May sound silly but I'm still to work out if I prefer mild or fuller smokes. Been online all eve looking at cutters and lighters, only have a basic cutter and only use matches right now.

Nice review man. I've heard this about cigar etiquette before but I don't get it. I think the visual aspect of smoking a cigar also adds enjoyment and a lot of bands look good. Plus I'm not a pretentious person so I don't care about showing off an expensive cigar

I know what you mean. If I ever man up and take the nicotine hit on the chin, I strongly suspect I would prefer the full flavoured cigars. I tend to like strong flavours unless it's too overpowering

I tend to take the band off, not for any etiquette reasons. I'm not even sure why I do it but I have been doing it since before I realised that the vast majority left them on.

I take the band off but only after smoking for 5-10 mins.
It gives it time to warm up the bands glue and less likely to damage the wrapper when removing.

Not sure if I read that somewhere or made it up, it's just what I've always done.

Mate that would be cool. Yeah I reckon I can make it. I'll get my chauffeur (the Mrs) to drop me over. Haha

I personally leave the label on, until near the end. How much of the cigar do people usually leave? I guess it depends on the size etc, but I usually go as far as I can as the flavour is usually particularly nice near the end I find.

Some sticks I have found to get bitter near the end, so I smoke until I stop enjoying flavour... Or if I'm still enjoying flavour I smoke till my lips get too hot! Lol

The advice I follow was to smoke it until you don't like the taste anymore. That can be half way or down to your burnt fingers.
