  • Romeo Y Julieta No2, my second review

Romeo Y Julieta No2. cost in UK ?10.49

Out of the humidor at 75% RH and 23 `c, Smoked outside after a light lunch; 28`c 80% RH, drinking water.
Construction\first thoughts; Firm throughout with a slight give, pleasant appearance with a light tobacco odour. Pre light draw was very free leaving flavours of tobacco on the lips.

1/3; Mild tobacco and leather flavours. Plenty of smoke and the burn seems clean and even. The greyish ash fell off just short of 1 inch.

2/3; Slightly stronger strength and flavour, some white pepper and leather flavours coming through. Draw is touch firmer but still easy.

3/3 Definitely a medium strength smoke now, never harsh or bitter, very smooth.

Overall, Lasted for 45 minutes, which seems a bit short after reading other reviews; I did enjoy this smoke very much, perhaps a bit too much . The burn was clean and even throughout, without any attention. Smoked to 1/2 Inch never getting hot, even on my fat fingers. Left me wanting more.

Thank you David, a nice straight forward review of an uncomplicated cigar, the draw may have been affected by the humidity...be careful of temperatures swings at 75%RH , the little mold spores would love to get a nice Cuban to play with...

      Good review.

I really like the Romeo tubos, especially the number 3.

RH at 75% seems risky. A good analysis of what is obviously a good smoke. Smoking to half inch without burn is an achievemnt - for any cigar.

A nice review Davex, keep em coming.

75% with 23*C does seem quite high, mind you with 80% outside it must be hard to control.

Cheers all, temp and RH is an issue here, lowest average nighttime is 26'C average daytime is 30'C. Humidity can vary from 70 - 100 %, usually 85-90 during the day, of course we do have aircon. Am going to take a few measurements around the house today, may find a better site for the humidor.

Got a box of 25 of these. Got room for trial and error. But I can't stand the third third so i let it undertook sometimes and some even goes out. I toss it when it does, cause it's harsh enough without being relit.
How long did you age the thing? Because i always found the 3rd third to be as harsh as my ex.... haha

I must have at least 50 of these in the humi's and with this cigar you have to remove them from the tubes, and give them a while to settle in the humidor, aging is always a good thing and the longer you leave them the better they will taste...
I do find with the No 2 in particular they can be harsh, especially the final third, however, can also be excellent if smoked at the right time.
In this i mean from how long it's been in the humidor to the time you take it out of the humidor to when you light it. They really do need dry boxing before smoking, for young ones this is a must and then you will find the harshness will disappear somewhat, also try clipping the head off prior to smoking whilst dry boxing and it will help rid the extra moisture that's making your cigar taste a little harsh. Hope this helps....

Btw. there are many of these fakes around at the moment and the tubes, bands, bar codes etc all look authentic, but once you see the cigar and smoke it you will find out it's terrible and harsh...just ensure your buying from a reliable source too..

Ah, that would make sense. I knew I wasn't doing something right (or anything right for this case, haha). I place them in there with the tubes, so removing them might save me some space too, haha.
But yea, how long would you wait before smoking from the humidor? I think my indoor and outdoor humidity is around 40 right now anyways. I also normally keep my humidor at around 65.

But I always thought that the bar code was the sure fire way to tell if the shite's legit or not..... That, and if the date on the bottom of the box isn't from like '05 or something.
