Romeo Y Julieta Wide Churchill
Size:
5 1/8" long x 55 ring gauge.
Appearance: 9/10
Double banded, medium brown - vein free wrapper. All in all, a solid looking cigar
Construction: 9.0/10
Many would give it a 10 as it was almost faultless (the ash on this cigar lasted close up to the second band), my only issue was that it did not give a great deal of resistance. Maybe that is a symptom of the ring gauge as you really do get voluminous amounts of smoke, clouds of it.
Flavour: 8.0/10
Pre draw - Cedar
1/3 - On lighting the cigar I got sweet cedar and a nutty flavour
2/3 - Similar to the first third
3/3 - Slightly more earthy but still featuring the earlier flavours.
To its credit this cigar was VERY consistent throughout, I did not encounter any harshness and had no problems in enjoying and smoking it. However in its strength lies its weakness, there was no real complexity. Yes it is a BIG smoke but in terms of flavour it does not have that wow factor.
Value: 7/10
At around ?17.00 for a cigar of its size, its not bad. However its probably not going to be a regular smoke (well not for me at that price anyway!) I would probably rather spend a few quid more and smoke a better robusto (or any robusto for that matter). Its a shame because this is a good stick but at the price I would not go toward it regularly.
Overall: 8/10
Excellent construction, decent flavour - its a consistent cigar but feels as though your left lacking somewhat (maybe that comes from the hype surrounding the name). IMHO I do not think its a cigar that will improve with age, although coming from me this counts for nothing lol. There is a chance I would revisit but not in a great hurry to do so .
It feels ive repeated my self so much with this review, a bit like the smoking experience of this cigar .
