Bolivar GM 2007

Just had this as my first Cuban so review is going to be pretty basic.


Found the cigar a bit weak at first lacking in smoke, but as it got going and warmed up the flavours started to come through.

Half way and the cigar is smooth with ample smoke and flavour.

Getting towards the end of it and it was still smooth with plenty of flavour flowing over my lips.

Smoked down to last 2cm and lasted 50 mins. Stayed firm ish all the way down to the nub and remained smooth with no bitterness or heat.

I found that exhaling through my nose also produced a more pronounced flavour.


Would def have again. A nice smooth flavourful cigar.

sounds like 5 years has rounded of the usually powerful gold medal!!! i have around 25 left from my 2007 stash, and a few from 2008!!! haven't had one in a while....... maybe now's the time to be smoking them!!!

what were the flavours you were getting?

I'm new to cigars so not sure how to describe the flavours.

Very smooth leathery taste with a nice salty/light spice on the lips.

I'm sure my palette will become more refined over time.

Cheers Monkey, As a beginner I've just tried to explain it as i experienced it.

I was expecting to go green but it really was a smooth smoke that satisfied me.

One strange thing happened, i got the shakes about 20 mins after having it!! lol

sounds like you had a nicotine hit after 20mins...try not to rush, 50mins for a Boli GM is not a long time. Glad you've discovered what is now called retro-haling...ex-haling through your nose from the mouth..there are more flavour 'buds' in your sinuses & nasal passages than 'in 'yer gob'.

Time was due to a big black cloud approaching and motoGP starting on TV lol........ Plus me being a bit greedy i suppose I don't smoke in the house! which is a bugger.

Always use my nose when i'm trying to get a full flavour. Same as with good wine or cognac i like to exhale through my nose to get the flavour of the drink...... Well that's until i get pissed and past caring


I shall be people watching in Barcelona on Wednesday so i'll get a chance to sit in the nice weather with a drink and one of my new Cuban acquisitions and savour it without rushing.... Oh i do love people watching.

Boli GM and MotoGP, doesn't get much better than that

The main reason behind taking your time with the smoke (apart from minimising the risk of overheating) is to try and let flavours develop, I am definitely in the camp that thinks the longer and more careful you are with a cigar, the more it will reward you.

On a side note, it was great to see Danny Kent grab a maiden victory, and in style!

And yes MotoGP and a nice cigar are a match made in heaven.

I'm going to have to see about getting the garage insulated a bit so i can sit out there watching GP whilst relaxing with a nice cigar. Hmm maybe a wood burner wouldn't go a miss also
