  • Padron 2000 Maduro

Well I've seen,in quite a few places, these cigars described as ugly.Absolutely not so in my humble opinion! Flawlessly constructed with a lovely, chocolatey cold aroma.Right from the off and for the first inch or so it's a real spice bomb with a long, tingle on the tongue finish.Beyond that initial spicy opening cigar seemed to settle and become a lot milder (relatively),although always medium/full in body.Wonderful rich espresso flavours, earthy and very nutty, more specifically walnut,I thought It burned absolutely perfectly and never became hot or bitter,I think I'm quite a slow smoker anyway (about 1hr 15) so I suppose that helps. This will most definitely become a staple,go to cigar I think.I'll smoke the next one with a nicely strong coffee,I think it'll be perfect with that.So if this is the 2000 Maduro,I can only wonder what those '26 and '64 et al series are like?!!!

I love the Padron 2000 Maduro, and I often pair it with a strong black coffee. The ones I've had didn't look beautiful, but they had a perfectly even burn and tasted great. They would definitely be one of my go-to smokes if I lived in the states, but at UK prices they tend to be more of an occasional thing for me. Still, they compare well to a lot of Cubans IMO. I haven't had the 1926 or 1964 series but I've heard that they're even better - I can't wait to try them!

I had my first one of these a couple of weeks ago.

I also felt the construction was flawless, it burned beautifully and the ash was silver.

I can't say I noticed much progression flavour wise, but that wasn't a bad thing for me as I like the way it started.

I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.

Wait 'til you try the 26's/64's; they're even better.

Just as an addendum,I smoked another one tonight and I don't think I did it justice last night. In my haste to smoke one I went pretty much straight to it and didn't eat first, all fine and it was a great smoke. However, the one tonight after dinner was even better! Still spicy undertones but fantastic creamy chocolate flavours on the draw and a brilliant, toasted tobacco finish.Could have been that it was just a different cigar,of course, but I think it was much more to do with smoking it at a more optimum time. These really are such a good smoke, great for any time of day.I'm going to have to be careful not to burn through them too quickly to be honest
