I had a couple of these sticks very kindly gifted to me by a colleague who recently came back from The Dominican Republic. My first outing with a Fuente and I thought I'd try and cobble together a few thoughts.First off it's a very well constructed cigar with a lovely oily, thick colorado maduro wrapper.Pre-light aroma really did remind me of a minty aero, strange as that sounds.Good, solid pre-light draw and the fairly standard toasted tobacco flavours.

This wasn't a cigar that needed any kind of a warm up and there were masses of roasted coffee beans right on the first few draws.Medium bodied, settling into sweet spice with a pretty long finish which carried with it a lovely zing on the tongue.Getting to about the halfway point it started to become medium full, the same sweet spice but with the addition of a pleasant grassy character. There's a light grey, flaky and fragile ash.

Nothing much new to report as the cigar came to an end except there was a very definite taste of cloves in there.Had someone told me beforehand that I'd be tasting cloves I would not have looked forward to that but it was actually very complimentary. So that was it really,or as much I'm able to pull from it at least.I'd give it an 86/87 I think. It's not overly complex or transitional but it's got good, strong flavours without being at all oppressive.

It doesn't seem to be available here based only on the minimal research I've done but the US sites that stock it are selling them at around $95 for a box of 25.On that basis I'd say they were pretty good value and I certainly think I'd bring a box back if I ever found myself over there.A decent, solid smoke

Fuente make a good cigar, that's for sure! I don't think I have ever had a truly awful one from them!

The burn looks good, any corrections needed?

How strong would you say they are on a 1-5?

      Cheers,

I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.

I've smoked one of these and I liked it although the draw was too easy for my taste.

Hey Adam, yeah the burn was pretty good by and large.I must admit that I did touch up just slightly on a couple of occasions. But I must also say that I am incredibly anal about correcting burn,I'm trying to get better at letting it be Strength wise I think I'd say a 3.It wouldn't be a morning coffee cigar for me but would certainly fit the bill for an early afternoon, post light lunch smoke.
